NAS was launched in June 2008 and is run entirely by volunteers, most of whom are children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). Although we are still quite new, we are growing rapidly.
What we offer
We aim to give families support by meeting regularly and by offering seminars and workshops. There is also an online support group for those who are unable to attend a meeting, and for chat and support any time of the day.
As a branch we provide information on autism and on NAS services and work to raise awareness of autism across the Isle of Wight. We seek to co-operate with local statutory and voluntary organisations where appropriate.
The branch currently offers the following:
- fortnightly coffee mornings
- an online support group
- monthly branch meetings, often with a guest speaker
- out of school get togethers
- autism-friendly screenings at Cineworld
- seminars/conferences
- information for people with an ASD, their families, organisations and professionals.
Support the Isle of Wight Branch
The branch relies on the support of individuals to continue our work, as we receive no funding from local or central government.
Donations from companies are also very welcome. Any financial contributions should be sent by cheque, made out to ‘NAS Isle of Wight Branch’, to the address below.
